x=1-2y/3 ........(3)

put the value of x in equation 2

2x+3y=4

2(1-2y/3)+3y=4

6(1-2y)+3y=4

6-12y+3y=4

6-9y=4

-9y=4-6

-9y=-2

minus sign got cancelled y=2/9
