ANSWER:

  • Value of x is 115/29
  • Value of y is 19/6

GIVEN:

  • 0.3x+0.4y = 2.5
  • 0.5x-0.3y = 1

TO FIND:

  • Value of x and y.

SOLUTION:

=> 0.3x+0.4y = 2.5

Muntiplying both sides by 0.3

=> 0.09x+0.12y = 0.75 ....(i)

=> 0.5x-0.3y = 1

Muntiplying both sides by 0.4

=> 0.20x-0.12y = 0.4 .....(ii)

Adding eq (i) and (ii)

=> 0.29x = 1.15

=> x = 1.15/0.29

=> x = 115/29

Putting x = 115/29 in eq (i)

=> 0.12y = 0.75 - 0.09(115/29)

=> 0.12y = 0.75 - 0.37

=> 0.12y = 0.38

=> y = 38/12

=> y = 19/6
