Question:

Solve the equation and check the solution:-

(a) 1- 4x = -11

(b) y + 3/2 = 5

Solution:

Q.(a) 1 - 4x = -11

 =  > 1 + 11 = 4x

 =  >  \frac{12}{4}  = x

 =  > x = 3

Now, Check the LHS.

LHS = 1 - 4x

 = > 1 - 4 \times 3

 = > 1 - 12

 = > - 11 \: = RHS

Q.(b) y + 3/2 = 5

 =  > y  =  \frac{5}{1}  -  \frac{3}{2}

 =  >  \frac{10 - 3}{2}

 =  >  \frac{7}{2}

Now,Check the LHS.

 =  > y +  \frac{3}{2}

 =  >  \frac{7}{2}  +  \frac{3}{2}

 =  >  \frac{7 + 3}{2}

 =  >  \frac{10}{2}

 =  &gt; 5 = </strong><strong>RHS</strong><strong>
