2x+3y=2
x−2y=8
From (2) we have x=8+2y
Put x=8+2y in (1) we get
2(8+2y)+3y=2
⇒16+4y+3y=2
⇒7y=2−16=−14
⇒y=
2
−14
=−7
Put y=−7 in x=8+2y we get
x=8+2×−7=8−14=−6
∴x=−6 and y=−7
