 \bf \color{magenta}\implies \frac{7y + 4}{y + 2}  =  \frac{ - 4}{3}

By cross multiplication,

 \bf \color{orange}\implies3(7y + 4) =  - 4(y + 2)

 \bf \color{magenta}\implies21y + 12 =  - 4y - 8

 \bf \color{orange}\implies21y + 4y =  - 8 - 12

 \bf \color{magenta}\implies25y =  -  20

 \bf \color{orange}\implies y =  \frac{ - 20}{25}

 \bf \color{magenta}\implies y =  \frac{ - 4}{5}

 \bf \color{orange}\implies y =  - 0.8
