 \frac{5}{2} x + 3 = \frac{21}{2} \\ \\ \frac{5}{2} x = \frac{21}{2} - 3 \\ \\ \frac{5}{2} x = \frac{21 - 6}{2} \\ \\ \frac{5}{2} x = \frac{15}{2} \\ \\ x = \frac{15}{2} \div \frac{5}{2} \\ \\ x = \frac{15}{2} \times \frac{2}{5} \\ \\ cancelling \: 2 \: on \: both \: sides \: \\ and \: 15 \: and \: 5 \: on \: both \: sides \\ \\ x \: = \: 3
