Answer :
(4 , 2)
Solution :
Here ,
The given pair of linear equations is ;
- 5x - 3y = 14 ------(1)
- 3x - 5y = 2 ------(2)
Now ,
Multiplying eq-(1) by 5 , we get ;
=> 5•(5x - 3y) = 5•14
=> 25x - 15y = 70 ------(3)
Now ,
Multiplying eq-(2) by 3 , we get ;
=> 3•(3x - 5y) = 3•2
=> 9x - 15y = 6 -------(4)
Now ,
Subtracting eq-(4) from (3) , we get ;
=> (25x - 15y) - (9x - 15y) = 70 - 6
=> 25x - 15y - 9x + 15y = 64
=> 16x = 64
=> x = 64/16
=> x = 4
Now ,
Putting x = 4 in eq-(2) , we get ;
=> 3x - 5y = 2
=> 3•4 - 5y = 2
=> 12 - 5y = 2
=> 5y = 12 - 2
=> 5y = 10
=> y = 10/5
=> y = 2
Hence ,
Required solution is : (4 , 2)
