a.

2(y + 4) = 16 \\ y + 4 = 16 \div 2 = 8 \\ y = 8 - 4 \\ y = 4

b.

ur question is incomplete...

c.

 \frac{3b }{2}  - 7 = 5 \\  \frac{3b - 14}{2}  = 5 \\ 3b - 14 = 5 \times 2 = 10 \\ 3b = 10 + 14 = 24 \\ b = 24 \div 3 \\ b = 8

d.

0 = 15 + 5(k - 6) \\ 0 = 15 + 5k - 30 \\ 0 =  - 15 + 5k \\ 15 = 5k \\ k = 15 \div 5 \\ k = 3

Hope this helps you...
