Given :-
13(y - 4) - 3(y - 9) = 5(y + 4)
Opening the bracket.
13y - 52 - 3y + 27 = 5y + 20
13y - 3y - 5y = 20 + 52 - 27
13y - 8y = 72 - 27
5y = 45
y = 9
L.H.S. = 13(y - 4) - 3(y - 9)
=> 13(9 - 4) - 3(9 - 9)
=> 13 × 5 - 3 × 0
=> 65
R.H.S. = 5(y + 4)
=> 5(9 + 4)
=> 5 × 13
=> 65
L.H.S. = R.H.S.
Hence verified.
