Given :-

13(y - 4) - 3(y - 9) = 5(y + 4)

Opening the bracket.

13y - 52 - 3y + 27 = 5y + 20

13y - 3y - 5y = 20 + 52 - 27

13y - 8y = 72 - 27

5y = 45

y = 9

\huge\tt{Explaination \ :-}
<b>
L.H.S. = 13(y - 4) - 3(y - 9)

=> 13(9 - 4) - 3(9 - 9)

=> 13 × 5 - 3 × 0

=> 65

R.H.S. = 5(y + 4)

=> 5(9 + 4)

=> 5 × 13

=> 65

L.H.S. = R.H.S.

Hence verified.

Hi there !

_______________________

Solution :

 \mathsf{13(y - 4) - 3(y - 9) = 5(y + 4)} \\  \\  \implies{ \mathsf{13y - 52 - 3y + 27 = 5y + 20}} \\  \\  \implies{ \mathsf{10y - 25 = 5y + 20 }} \\  \\  \implies{ \mathsf{ 10y - 5y = 20 + 25}} \\  \\  \implies{ \mathsf{ 5y = 45}} \\  \\  \implies{ \mathsf{y =  \frac{45}{5}  }} \\  \\   \boxed{\bold{\therefore{ \mathsf{ y = 9}}}}

\underline{\bold{Verification :}}

Putting the value of y = 9.

\mathsf{13(9 - 4) - 3(9 - 9) = 5(9 + 4)} \\  \\  \implies{ \mathsf{117 - 52 - 27 + 27 = 45 + 20}} \\  \\  \implies{ \mathsf{ 144 - 79 = 65}} \\  \\  \implies{ \mathsf{65 = 65}}

Hence, LHS = RHS.

Therefore,

The value of y is 9.
