Topic :-

  • Linear Equation in One Variable

Given :-

  • 4(2x + 1) = 3(x - 1) + 8

To Find :-

  • Value of 'x'.

Solution :-

4(2x + 1) = 3(x - 1) + 8

Open the brackets,

4(2x) + 4(1) = 3(x) - 3(1) + 8

8x + 4 = 3x - 3 + 8

8x + 4 = 3x + 5

Subtract 4 from both sides,

8x + 4 - 4 = 3x + 5 - 4

8x = 3x + 1

Subtract 3x from both sides,

8x - 3x = 3x + 1 - 3x

5x = 1

Divide by 5 both sides,

5x/5 = 1/5

x = 1/5

Answer :-

So, x = 1/5.

Checking the solution,

We can check the solution by putting value of 'x' in Left Hand Side and Right Hand Side,

Equation : 4(2x + 1) = 3(x - 1) + 8

Solving Left Hand Side ( LHS ),

4(2x + 1)

4(2(1/5) + 1)

4((2/5) + 1)

4(7/5)

28/5

Solving Right Hand Side ( RHS ),

3(x - 1) + 8

3((1/5) - 1) + 8

3(-4/5) + 8

-12/5 + 8

(-12 + 40)/5

28/5

LHS = RHS

It means that our solution, x = 1/5 is correct.

QuestioN :

Solve the following equation and check your answer.

4(2x+1) =3(x-1) +8

GiveN :

  • 4(2x+1) =3(x-1) +8

To FiNd :

  • Solve the equation

ANswer :

x = \frac{1}{5}

SolutioN :

4(2x+1) = 3(x-1)+8

Solve the brackets first,

4(2x) + 4(1) = 3(x) - 3(1) + 8

8x + 4 = 3x - 3 + 8

8x + 4 = 3x + 5

After solving the bracket, subtract 4 from the both sides,

8x + 4 - 4 = 3x + 5 - 4

8x = 3x + 1

After subtracting 4 Subtract 3x from both sides,

8x - 3x = 3x + 1 - 3x

5x = 3x - 3x + 1

5x = 1

Now, Divide by 5 from both the sides,

\frac{5x}{5} = \frac{1}{5}

x = \frac{1}{5}

∴Hence, x = \frac{1}{5}
