Answer:

 {5x}^{2}  - 8x - 4 = 0

 {5x}^{2}  - (10 - 2)x - 4 = 0

 {5x}^{2}  - 10x + 2x - 4 = 0

5x(x - 2) + 2(x - 2) = 0

(5x + 2)(x - 2) = 0

(5x + 2) = 0 \: and \: (x - 2) = 0

x = -2/5 and x = 2

Ans. -2/5, 2

Hope it helps.

 = 5 {x}^{2}  - 8x - 4

 = 5 {x}^{2}  - (10 - 2)x - 4

 = 5 {x}^{2}  - 10x + 2x - 4

 = 5x(x - 2) + 2(x - 2)

 =( 5x + 2)(x - 2)

5x + 2 = 0

5x =  - 2

x =  \frac{ - 2}{5}

x - 2 = 0

x = 2
