3x + 8 = 5x + 2

Solution :-

3x + 8 = 5x + 2 ..........eq (1)

subtract 5x from both sides

3x - 5x + 8 = 5x - 5x + 2

-2x + 8 = 2 ......... eq (2)

now take eq(2) and subtract both side by 8

-2x + 8 - 8 = 2 - 8

-2x = -6 ...........eq(3)

now take eq (3) and divide both side by -2

-2x /-2 = -6 / -2

x = 3

now subsitute the value of x in equation (1)

3x + 8 = 5x + 2

3 * 3 + 8 = 5 * 3 + 2

9 + 8 = 15 + 2

17 = 17

RHS = LHS
