x2+3x+1=(x−2)2

x2+3x+1=x2−4x+4

⇒x2+3x+1−x2+4x−4=0

⇒7x−3=0 has its highest power 1

Hence it is not a quadratic equation.

Using identity a²-2ab+b² to break (x-2)²

 \cancel{ {x}^{2}} + 3x + 1 =  \cancel{ {x}^{2} } - 2x + 4

3x + 2x = 4 - 1

5x = 3

x =  \frac{3}{5}

x = 0.6
