1. x/2 – 5 = x/3 - 4

=> 3x - 30 = 2x - 24

=> 3x - 30 - 2x = -24

=> x - 30 = -24

=> x = 6

2. 5x/3 + 3 = x + 7

=> 5x + 9 = 3x + 21

=> 5x + 9 - 3x = 21

=> 2x + 9 = 21

=> 2x = 12

=> x = 12/2

=> x = 6

3. 3(y + 7) = 15

3y + 21 = 15

3y = 15 - 21

3y = - 6

y = 6/3

y = -2
