2(x - 4) = 4x + 2

2x - 8 = 4x + 2

2x - 4x = 2 + 8

  - 2x = 10

x = 10 \div  - 2

x =  - 5

Hope it's helps to you.

2(x - 4) = 4x + 2

2x  - 8 = 4x + 2

2x - 4x = 2 + 8

 - 2x = 10

x =   - \frac{1 0}{2}

\bold\green{x =  - 5}
