Answer:

5x + 3y = -11 _______( i)

2x + 4 y = -10 _______ ( ii )

from equation ( i )

x = -11 - 3y / 5 _______( iii )

substituting the value of x in equation ( ii )

2x + 4y = -11

2 × (-11 -3 y / 5 ) + 4y = -10

- 22 - 6y / 5 + 4y = -10

-22 - 6y + 20 y /5 = -10

-22 -6y + 20y = -10 × 5

-22 + 14y = -50

14y = -50 + 22

14y = - 28

y = -28 / 14

y = - 2 _______ ( iv )

substituting the value of y in equation ( iii )

x = -11 - 3y / 5

x = -11 - 3 × -2 / 5

x = -11 + 6 / 5

x = -5 /5

x= -1

hence , x = -1 and y = -2
