Answer:

(1)

2r - 5 =  \frac{27}{4}

4(2r - 5) = 27

8r - 20 = 27

8r = 47

r =  \frac{47}{8}

r = 5.875

(2)

4(2 - z) = 24

2 - z =  \frac{24}{4}

2 - z = 6

 - z = 6 - 2

 - z = 4

z =  - 4

(3)

23 - (z - 8) = 9

23 - z + 8 = 9

31 - z = 9

 - z = 9 - 31

z = 31 - 9

z = 22

(4)

8 = 5(z - 2)

8 = 5z - 10

18 = 5z

 \frac{18}{5} = z

3.6 = z

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
