$5n + 12n = 17$

$x = \frac{17}{17}$

$x = 1$

$2m - 3 = 15 \: \: \:$

$17n = 17$

$n = 1$

$2m - 3 = 15$

$2m = 15 + 3$

$2m = 18$

$m = \frac{18}{2}$

$m = 9$

$\frac{1}{y} = 1$

$y = 1$

$\frac{1}{x} = 9$

$x = \frac{1}{9}$
