GIVEN:

A linear equation in one variable, 2/3 + 5a = 4

SOLUTION:

2/3 + 5a = 4

Multiple the whole equation with 3, to remove the denominators,

==> 3(2/3) + 3(5a) = 3(4)

==> 2 + 15a = 12

==> 15a = 12 - 2

==> a = 10/15

==> a = 2/3 OR a = 0.66 (in decimals)

∴ Value of X is 2/3
