Solve the following:

(i) 6 students out of 40 students in a class are absent. What percentage of The students are absent?


(ii) Antony secured 384 marks out of 500 marks. Find the percentage of marks secured by Antony.


(iii) A shop has 500 shirts, out of which 15 are defective. What percentage of shirts are defective?


(iv) Vani has a collection of bangles. She has 20 gold bangles and 10

(vi) An alloy consists of 7 parts of zinc and 33 parts of copper. Find

∵ Percent of absent = 6/40 x 100

                                  = 15%

ii) total mark: 500

 mark of Antony: 384

 ∴ antony mark in percent = 384/500 x 100

   defected shirt: 15

  ∴ percent of defected shirt =  15/500 x 100

                                                 = 3%

IV)  gold bangles: 20

      silver bangles: 10

                total: 20 + 10 = 30

∴ percent of gold bangles = 20/30 x 100 = 66.66%

∴ percent of silver bangles = 10/30 x 100 = 33.33%

V) no. of people voted: 90

 total: 120

 ∴ percent of people did not vote = 90/120 x 100

                                                         = 75%

VI) alloy = 7

     copper: 33

  ∴ percent of copper = 33/40 x 100 = 82.5%
