Let equations

2x - y = 2 -------------------- equation

x + 3y = 15 ------------------ equation

  • Take any equation.

⇒ x + 3y = 15

⇒ x = 15 - 3y ------------------ ❸ equation

  • Now , put value of x in any equation .

⇒2x - y = 2 -------- ➊

⇒2×(15 - 3y) - y = 2 ( Value of x is by 3 equation)

⇒30 - 6y - 3y = 2

⇒30 - 7y = 2

⇒-7y = 2 - 30

⇒-7y = -28

⇒ y = -28 / -7

y = 3

  • For value of x , put the value of y in any equation.

⇒2x - y = 2 -------- ➊

⇒2x - 3 = 2

⇒2x = 2 + 3

⇒2x = 5

x = 5 / 2

Verification:-

  • For verification put value of x and y in any equation.

⇒2x - y = 2 --------➊

⇒2× 5/2 - 3 = 2

⇒5 - 3 = 2

⇒2 = 2

Hence, verified

Therefore, Value of x = 5/2 and value of y = 3.
