answer is 1/4 times the original kinetic energy.

let v and K.E be the original speed and kinetic energy of the body and v' and K.E' be the new speed and kinetic energy of the body.

initially, K.E=1/2mv²

the new kinetic energy,

K.E'=1/2mv'²

given that speed is halved i.e. v'=v/2

therefore, the new kinetic energy of the body is-

K.E'=1/2m(v/2)²

=1/4×1/2mv²

=1/4K.E

i.e the new kinetic energy is 1/4 times that of the original kinetic energy.
