Answer:

\huge {\mathsf {x\ =\ -2\ and\ y\ =\ 5}}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

8x + 5y = 9 -(1)

3x + 2y = 4 -(2)

Lets just multiply both the equations (1) by 2 and equation (2) by 5.

{But why are we dong this?

because it'll make both the equations equal and will make it easy for us to do the operation}.

The equation then will be

16x + 10y = 18 -(3)

15x + 10y = 20 -(4)

Now lets subtract equation (4) by equation (3)...

16x - 15x + 10y - 10y = 18 - 20

x = -2

Putting x = -2 in equation (1) {u can use any equation but I'm taking equation 1}

8 × (-2) + 5y = 9

-16 + 5y = 9

5y = 9 + 16

5y = 25

y = 5
