Answer:

ELIMINATION METHOD:

5x-4y = -8........(1)

7x+6y = 9.........(2)

Multiplying equation (1) by 7 and eq(2) by 5,

35x-28y = -56......(3)

35x+30y = 45......(4)

Subtracting (3) and (4)

= -58y = -101

= y = 101/58

Putting value of y in eq(1)

5x -4(101/58) = -8

5x -202/29 = -8

(145x-202)/29 = -8

145x-202 = -232

145x = -232+202

145x = -30

x = -6/29

SUBSTITUION METHOD:

5x-4y = -8

4y = 5x+8

y = (5x+8)/4.....(5)

putting y in eq(2)

7x+ 6(5x+8)/4 = 9

7x +(15x+24)/2 = 9

(14x+15x+24) = 18

29x = -6

x = -6/29

putting x in eq(1)

5(-6/29)-4y = -8

-30/29-4y = -8

-30-116y = -232

-116y = -232+30

-116y = -202

y = 202/116= 101/58
