By substitution method .

$make \: 3rd \: equation \: from \: (1) \\ \\ x = > 6 - y...........(3) \\ \\ \\ put \: value \: of \: x \: in \: (2) \\ \\ 3(6 - y) + y = 8 \\ \\ 18 - 3y + y = 8 \\ \\ 18 - 2y = 8 \\ \\ - 2y = 8 - 18 \\ \\ y = > \frac{10}{2} \\ \\ \boxed{y= > 5} \\ \\ put \: y \: = 5 \: in \: (3) \\ \\ x = 6 - y \\ \\ x = 6 - 5 \\ \\ \boxed{x = > 1}$
