Answer:
2x +y=7
3x-y=8
by simple elimination method
y will be eliminated
and 2x+3x will be added also 7 and 8 will also be added
so, 5x=15
x=15/5=3
substituting value of x in eq.1
2*3+y=7
6 +y =7
y=7-6=1

Question
2x+y=7 3x-y=8. find x and y
solution
solving by substitution methord
as we can see both equation have a equal term which is y
(*we add both equation when there is - sign is on one equation on the term which we are taking and + sign on other term)
so by adding both of them
2x + y = 7
3x - y = 8
--------------
5x = 15
then x = 3
so to find y
we put value of x in either of equation I put them in 1st one
so 2(3) + y = 7
6 + y = 7
y = 7 - 6
y = 1
so value of x = 3 and y= 1
hope it helps
