x+3y=13.........eq.2

taking eq 2,

x+3y=13

x=13-3y.........eq.3

put x= 13-3y in eq. 1, we get

3(13-3y)+y=7

39-9y+y=7

-8y=7-39

-8y=-32

y=4

Put y =4 in eq 2 , we get,

x+3×4=13

x=13-12

x=1
