Answer:

Value of x is 2 and y is 1.

Step-by-step explanation:

➔ 3x + 4y = 10 - i)

➔ 2x - 2y = 2 - ii)

Elimination method :

➔ 3x + 4y = 10

➔ 2x - 2y = 2 × (2)

  • 4x - 4y = 4

➔ 3x + 4y = 10

➔ 4x - 4y = 4

  • 7x = 14
  • x = 14/7
  • x = 2

Substitute in i) :

➔ 3x + 4y = 10

➔ 3(2) + 4y = 10

➔ 6 + 4y = 10

➔ 4y = 4

➔ y = 4/4

➔ y = 1

∴ Value of x is 2 and y is 1.

Verification :

⇒ 3x + 4y = 10

⇒ 3(2) + 4(1) = 10

⇒ 6 + 4 = 10

⇒ 10 = 10

⇒ L.H.S = R.H.S
