solve the following pair of linear equations- 5/(x+1) - 2/(y-1)=1/2 & 10/(x+1) + 2/(y-1) = 5/2​

Answer:

5/(x+1) -2/(y-1) =1/2 •••••••••(1)

10/(x+1) +2/(y+1) =5/2 ••••••••(2)

adding 1+2

15/(x+1) =1/2+5/2

15/(x+1) = 3

15=3(x+1)

5=x+1

x=5-1

x=4

putting the value of x in equation (1)

15/(4+1) -2/(y-1) =1/2

15/5-1/2= 2/(y-1)

5-1/2=2/(y-1)

9/2=2/(y-1)

y-1=4/9

y= 1+4/9

y=13/9

hence x=4 and y=13/9
