putting the value of x in equation (1)

15/(4+1) -2/(y-1) =1/2

15/5-1/2= 2/(y-1)

5-1/2=2/(y-1)

9/2=2/(y-1)

y-1=4/9

y= 1+4/9

y=13/9

hence x=4 and y=13/9
