Step-by-step explanation:

By elimination method

x + y = 15----(1) , x - y = 1------(2)

using equation( 1)&(2)

x + y = 15----(1)

x - y = 1------(2)

————————

2x = 16

x = 16/2

x = 8

using equation x = 8 in (1)

8 + y = 15

y = 15 - 8

y = 7

By substitution method

x + y = 15 , x - y = 1------(2)

x + y = 15----(1) , x = 1 + y------(3)

using equation( 1)in(3)

1 + y + y = 15

2y = 15 - 1

y = 14/2

y = 7

using equation y = 7 in (1)

x + 7 = 15

x = 15 - 7

x = 8
