Solve the following pair of linear equations by graphical
method.
10. 3x + 2y = 12 and 4x – y – 5 = 0.
Answers
FIRST, GRAB A GRAPH PAPER !!!!
well once u get ur hands on a graph paper we can begin !
so , first u have to convert these equations in the form of
y = mx + c or in other words u can say - find the value of y in terms of x
alright ! so here we have...
3x + 2y = 12 --------- eqn. 1
now lets write the value of y in terms of x...
2y=12-3x
⇒ y = (12-3x)/2
now make a table ! not the furniture, duh!
so the kind of table we are making here is .....
finding the values of y when we put any value of x. we will try to avoid fractions and decimals as much as possible becuz those will be a lil hard to plot on the graph paper.
(refer to fig 1)
so we will find 3 values of y and get three co-ordinates through which the line having the equation 3x + 2y = 12 shall pass.
so we get the points -
A(0,6) , B(2,3) , C(4,0)
okay now grab ur graph sheet and draw ur x axis and y axis. and plot these points.
well , now let's look at the second equation that's given to us.
4x-y-5=0 ------------ eqn.2
yup, find the value of y in terms of x!
⇒4x-y=5
⇒y=5-4x
Okay ! so lets make the table again ...
put a value of x to get the respective value of y
(refer to fig 2)
alright , so the points we get are-
P(0,5) , Q(1,1) , R(-1,9)
Now , u can go ahead and plot this line on the same graph paper!
The point where they intersect is the point of solution .
(refer to fig 3)
Some important things to remember are-
first, do not forget to write down the scale !
second, always use a pencil.
third, make sure u name the points and write the equations over the lines on the graph paper itself.
And! i hope u find this helpful :)
and if u need the solution done on the graph paper lemme know in the comment.
