Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

pair of linear equations in two variables:x+3y-6=0,2x-y=0

To find:-

Solve the following pair of linear equations in two variables using elimination method:x+3y-6=0,2x-y=0

Solution:-

Given pair of linear equations are :

x+3y-6=0 --------(1) and

2x-y=0 ----------(2)

On multiplying the equation (1) with 2 for eliminating the variable x

2x+6y-12=0

2x +6y =12------(3)

On Subtracting the equation (1) from (3) then

2x+6y=12

2x- y =0

(-)

__________

0+7y = 12

__________

=7y = 12

=> y = 12/7

On Substituting the value of y in (2) then

2x - (12/7) = 0

=>2x = 12/7

=>x = (12/7)/2

=>x = 12/(7×2)

=>x = 12/14

=>x = 6/7

Therefore, x= 6/7 and y = 12/7

Answer:-

The solution for the given pair of linear equations in two variables is (6/7 , 12/7)

Check:-

If x= 6/7 and y = 12/7 then LHS of (1)

=>(6/7)+3(12/7)-6

=>(6/7)+(36/7)-6

=>(6+36-42)/7

=>(42-42)/7

=>0/7

=>0

=>RHS

LHS = RHS

and LHS of equation (2)

2(6/7)-(12/7)

=>(12/7)-(12/7)

=>(12-12)/7

=>0/7

=>0

=>RHS

LHS = RHS is true for x = 6/7 and y=12/7

Verified the given relations

Used method:-

  • Method of Elimination.
