Step-by-step explanation:

2x + 3y = 12

x = (12 - 3y)/2 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  -  - 1equation

substituting this value of x in other equation

So, we get,

(12 - 3y)/2 - 2y =  - 1

(12 - 3y - 4y)/2 =  - 1

12 - 7y =  - 2

7y =  - 12 - 2

7y =  - 14

 y = 2

Then,

x + 4 =  - 1

x =  - 5

Ans x = -5 and y = 2

2x+3y=12....eq.1

x-2y=-1....eq.2

Multiply equatin 2 by 2

2x-4y=-2...eq.3

subtrating eqution 1 &3

2x-3y=12

-

2x-4y=-2

(-) (+) (+)

-------------

0 +y=14

y=14

put y=14 in eq. 2

x-2y=-1

x-2.14=-1

x-28=-1

x=-1+28

x=27
