Answer:

x + y = 14

x = 14 - y

substituting x = 14 - y in equation

x-y =14

(14 - y ) - y = 14

14-y -y = 4

14 - 2y = 4

y = 10 / 2

y = 5

From Equation (1)

X + Y = 14

X - Y = 4

Substituting X = 14 ,

X = 14 - Y

From Equation (2)

Substituting X = 14 - Y

X - Y = 4

( 14 - Y ) - Y = 4

Therefore , 14 - Y - Y = 4

14 - 2Y = 4

-2Y = 4 - 14

-2Y = 10

Y = -10/-2

Y = 5

Putting Y = 5 in (2)

X - Y = 4

X = Y + 4

X = 5 + 4

X = 9

Hence X = 9 and Y = 5 is the solution of the above equations .
