                 x+2x+2x= 26-6

                5x=20

                x=20/5

                x=4

                First number=x=4

                Second number=2x=2(4)=8

                Third number=2x+6=2(4)+6=8+6=14

Given: The sum of three numbers is 26. The second number is twice the first and the third number is 6 more than the second.

To find: The numbers.

Solution:

Let the three numbers be x, y and z. According to the question, the sum of these three numbers is 26.

x + y + z = 26

Now, the second number is equal to two times the first number and the third number is 6 more than the second.

y = 2x

z = y + 6

  = 2x+6

Hence, all three numbers can be added in terms of x and equated  to 26.

(x) + (2x) + (2x + 6) = 26

5x + 6 = 26

5x = 20

x = 4

Thus, the second and the third number can be calculated as

y = 2x

  = 2(4)

  = 8

z = y +6

  = 8+6

  = 14

Therefore, the numbers are 4, 8 and 14.
