1/x+5 = 1/x^2
x^2 = x + 5
x^2 - x - 5 = 0
x^2 - x = 5
x^2 - x + 1/2^2 = 5 + 1/2^2
(x - 1/2)^2 = 5 + 1/4
(x - 1/2)^2 = 21/4
(x - 1/2) = + or -√21/2
As there are two signs
x = (1 + √21)/2 or x = (1-√21)/2
x^2 = x + 5
x^2 - x - 5 = 0
x^2 - x = 5
x^2 - x + 1/2^2 = 5 + 1/2^2
(x - 1/2)^2 = 5 + 1/4
(x - 1/2)^2 = 21/4
(x - 1/2) = + or -√21/2
