Compare the equation with

am^2 +bm +c=0. We get

a=1, b= - 1 and c= - 16

We know the solution of the equation is

m =  \frac{ - b ± \sqrt{ {b}^{2} - 4ac } }{2a}

Putting the value of a, b, c we get

m =  \frac{1± \sqrt{1 + 4 \times 16 \times 1} }{2 \times 1}

So

m =  \frac{1}{2}  +  \frac{ \sqrt{65} }{2}

Or

m =  \frac{1}{2}  -  \frac{ \sqrt{65} }{2}
