You can solve this problem by simply writing this expression in the form

(ax+b)2+c

where a,b,c are real constants.

So,

We have 9x2−24x+10

= (3x)2−2(3x)(4)+10

{because 2 (3x)(4)=24x}

= (3x)2−2(3x)(4)+(4)2−(4)2+10 {because adding and subtracting the same quantity doesn't make any difference }

Looking carefully, we can see that it is just an expansion of (3x−4)2−6

So we clearly see that if we add 6 to it then it becomes (3x−4)2 which is a perfect square!
