Question :

Solve the following by using quadratic formula :

  • 5m² + 5m + 1

Answer :

m = -1/2 and -1/2

Explanation :

5m² + 5m + 1

Comparing with ax² + bx + c = 0

we get,

a = 5

b = 5

c = 1

Quadratic formula :

m = [-b±√(b²-4ac)]/2a

Putting the values,

=> m = [-5±√(5²-5×5×1)]/2×5

=> m = [-5±√(25-25)]/10

=> m = -5/10 and -5/10

=> m = -1/2 and -1/2

Following equation have equal roots.

Quadratic equation by using formula :

5m^{2}  + 5m \:  + 1.

Now,comparing with :

ax^{2}  + bx \:  + c \:  = 0.

Therefore, we get ,

a = 5 , b = 5 , c = 1.

formula of Quadratic equation:

m = [-b+ _/(b^2 - 4ac )]/2a

Now , putting values:

m= [-5 + _/(5^2 - 5×5×1)]/2×5.

m =[-5 + _/(25 - 25)]/10.

m = -5/10 and -5/10 .

m = -1/2 and -1/2 .

( _/ ) in this answer this sign means cube root.
