The number is 53.

GIVEN

I am a number between 50 and 100. My ones digit is two less than my tens digit . I am a prime number.

TO FIND

The number

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Let the two-digit number be, xy

Place value = 10x+y

It is given,

ones digit is 2 less than the tens digit.

So,

y = x-2

The digits of the number are;

Digit at tens place = x

Digit at ones place = x-2

We know that prime numbers are those which are only divisible by themselves or 1.

Prime numbers between 50 to 100 are- 53 , 59 , 61 , 67 , 71 , 73 , 79 , 83 , 89 , 97 .

To find the number we have to compare the digits of the numbers with the given condition (Ones digit is 2 less than the digit at tens place)

Tens digit of 53 = 5

ones digit of 53 = 3

Difference between the digits = 5-3 = 2

We can see that 53 satisfies the condition.

Hence, The number is 53.
