Answer:

2x - 7y = 7 .....(I)

3x + y = 22. .....(ii)

Multiply (ii) with 7

21x + 7y = 154 .....(iii)

(I) + (iii)

23x = 161

x =  \frac{161}{23}

So, x = 7 , y = 1

Answer:

Thanks for your question...

Your required answer :

  • 2x - 7y = 7 ------ ( 1 )
  • 3x + y = 22 ------ ( 2 )

By substitution method :

Value of x :

  • 2x = 7 + 7y
  • x = 7 + 7y / 2

Now put the value of x in equation ( 2 ) :

  • 3 ( 7 + 7y ) / 2 + y = 22
  • (21 + 21y ) /2 + y = 22
  • ( 21 + 21y + 2y ) / 2 = 22
  • 21 + 24y = 44
  • 24y = 44 - 21
  • 24 y = 23
  • y = 24/23
