Answer:

y=31/80

x=241/16

Step-by-step explanation:

6x-y=22...1

x+5y=17....2

multiply eq 2 by 6

so it becomes

6x+30y=102   (3)

subtract eq (1) from (eq) (3)

31y=82

y=31/80

put y in.... 2

x+5(31/80)=17

x=241/16

let 6x-y=-22 be equation 1 and x+5y=17 be equation 2

Multiply by 6 in equation 2

6(x+5y=17)

=6x+30y=102 be equation 3

Solving eq 1 and eq 3

6x-y=-22

6x+30y=102

- - -

0-31y=-124

31y=124

y=4

putting y=4 in eq 1

6x-y=-22

6x-4=-22

6x=-18

x=-3

hope it helps u
