Now, multiply equation ( ii ) with 7 we get,

=> 21x+7y=154     ...(iii)

Add the equation ( i ) and ( iii ), we get

=> 23x=161

Divide by 23, on both sides we get

=> x=7

So, the value of x is 7.

Now, by putting the value of x as 7 in equation ( i ), we get

=> 2x-7y=7

=> 2 ( 7 ) - 7y = 7

=> 7y = 14 - 7

=> 7y = 7

=> y = 1

So, the value of y is 1.
