The solution of equations are x= 4 and y=-2.

Given:

  • Two simultaneous linear equations.
  • 2x + y = 6 \:  \:  \text{and} \:  \: 3x + 4y = 4

To find:

  • Solution of equations using graphical method.

Solution:

Step 1:

Find atleast two points of eq1

Put x=0

2(0) + y = 6 \\

or

y = 6 \\

Let it is point A(0,6)

Put y=0

2x + 0 = 6 \\

or

x = 3 \\

Let this is point B(3,0)

Mark these points on a graph paper and draw line.

Step 2:

Put x= 0 in eq2

3(0) + 4y = 4 \\

or

y = 1 \\

Let it is point C(0,1)

Put x=-4

3(-4)+ 4y = 4 \\

or

4y = 16 \\

or

y = 4\\

Let this is point D(-4,4)

Mark these points on a graph paper and draw line.

Step 3:

Both lines meet at a point P(4,-2)

here

x= 4 and y=-2

Thus,

The solution of equations are x=4 and y=-2.
