Answer:

x = 5 , y = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

x + 3y = 5

x - y = 5

x = 5 + y

(5+y ) + 3y = 5

5 + 4y = 5

4y = 5 -5

y = 0/4

y = 0

x = 5 + 0 = 5

Answer:

x + 3y = 5__(1)

3x - y = 5__(2)

eq (1) × 3 = 3x + 9y = 15__(3)

eq (2) × 1 = 3x - y = 5__(4)

eq (3) - eq (4)

=>> 3x + 9y - ( 3x - y ) = 15 - 5

=>> 3x + 9y - 3x + y = 10

=>> 10y = 10

=>> y = 10/10

=>> y = 1

Substituting the value of y in eq (1)

x + 3y = 5

=>> x + 3 = 5

=>> x = 5 - 3

=>> x = 2
