EXPLANATION.

⇒ 3x + 2y = 29. - - - - - (1).

⇒ 5x - y = 18. - - - - - (2).

As we know that,

Multiply equation (1) by 1.

Multiply equation (2) by 2.

⇒ 3x + 2y = 29. - - - - - (1) x 1.

⇒ 5x - y = 18. - - - - - (2) x 2.

We get,

⇒ 3x + 2y = 29. - - - - - (1).

⇒ 10x - 2y = 36. - - - - - (2).

Adding both the equation (1) and (2), we get.

⇒ 13x = 65.

⇒ x = 5.

Put the value of x = 5 in equation (2), we get.

⇒ 5x - y = 18.

⇒ 5(5) - y = 18.

⇒ 25 - y = 18.

⇒ - y = 18 - 25.

⇒ - y = - 7.

⇒ y = 7.

Values of x = 5 and y = 7.
