Step-by-step explanation:
3x + 3y = 13.5 ............( 1 ).
5x + 3y = 85............( 2 ).
3subtract equation ( 1 ) from( 2 ).
5x + 3y = 85
-3x + 3y = 13.5
= 2x = 71.5
× = 71.5÷2
x = 357.5
put x = 357.5 in equation ( 1 ).
3x + 3y = 13.5
3 × 357.5 + 3y = 13.5
1072.5 + 3y = 13.5
3y = 13.5 - 1072.5
3y = - 1059.0
y = -1059.5 ÷ 3
y = - 353.0
solution ( x , y ) = ( 357.5 , 353.0 )
