3x - y = 0 .... (a)

x + 4y = 11 ....(b)

now, 3x = y

  • substituting, y = 3x in b

•°• x + 4 × (3x) = 11

x + 4x = 11

5x = 11

x = 11/5

y = 3x = (11/5)×3 = 33/5

( x,y) = (11/5, 33/5) is solution.
