Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

x + y = 20   (i)

x - y = 4      (ii)

add eq (i) and (ii)

2x = 24

x = 12

put the value of x in eq (i)

y = 8

Answer:

Solution :-

The given equations are;

x + y = 20 . . . . . (1)

x - y = 4 . . . . . . .(2)

Now,

Adding equations (1) and (2), we get;

x + y + x - y = 20 + 4

x + x + y - y = 24

2x = 24

x = 24/2

x = 12

Putting the value of x = 12 in equation (1) we get,

x + y = 20

➞ (12) + y = 20

➞ 12 + y = 20

➞ y = 20 - 12

➞ y = 8

∴ The value of x = 12, y = 8 is the solution of the system of the given equations.
