Heya Mate.....

x + y = 5.....(1)

x - y = 1........(2)

Now add equ (1) & (2)

x+y=5

+ x-y= 1

2x =6

Therefore,

x=6/2

x=3

Put x=3 in equⁿ (1)

x+y=5

3+y=5

y=5-3

y=2

The solution is (x, y) is (3,2)

Hope this will help you...

Given,

Equation 1: x + y = 5

Equation 2: x - y = 1

To Find,

Value of x, y =?

Solution,

Equation 1 is  x + y = 5 and equation 2 is  x - y = 1.

Adding equation 1 and equation 2, we get

x + y + (x - y) = 5 + 1

x + y + x - y = 6

2x = 6

x = 6/2 = 3

Putting value of x = 3 in equation 1

x + y = 5

3 + y = 5

y = 5 - 3

y = 2

Hence, after solving equations  x+y=5, x-y=1 x and y are 3 and 2 respectively.
